Abstract

Introduction: -Theatre and Ballet can help in the training of nuclear medicine and radiology residents. The combination of performing arts can help in the understanding of human experience by understanding stories our bodies transmit, understanding values and perspectives.-It helps in developing methods of communication and self expression to an audience similar to the way it occurs in medicine and radiology.

-It allows communication of personal ideas to explore listening, thinking and reflection much like occurs in nuclear medicine and radiology training.

Methods: -The practice of nuclear medicine and radiology requires methods to communicate ideas and listening to impart ideas to others.

-Theatre and Ballet utilize the arts to transmit ideas and nuclear medicine and radiology also requires a platform to speak with patients, active listening and artistic contribution to enhance understanding by the patient.

-The use of acting and dance can join forces to enhance the educational process. They transmit messages through emotions, atmospheres and movement. Sensory and perceptual experiences enhance communication skills, needed by the nuclear medicine physician and radiologist on a daily basis.

Results: Nuclear Medicine and Radiology rely on the ability to transmit ideas and information to the patient to enhance patient care. In viewing and participating in dance and theatre, learning occurs through movement patterns help in the fundamental communication. This allows an understanding through diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Messages are more clearly understood and can enhanced with repeat viewing.

Conclusions: -An artistic approach to teaching and understanding radiology remains important in improving the communication process and transferring messages to a more diverse population.

-We are always looking for new ways to promote active learning and combining these various art forms can engage minds with the use of movement and emotions. This can help patients have improved care, less complications and reduced healthcare cost.
