Abstract
The study assessed the level of positive social capital between parents and school personnel in an urban elementary school. Participants in the study were selected from an urban elementary school located in Vallejo, California. Interviews were administered to participants about their perspective on home school partnerships. The participants were also asked questions about the effectiveness of school-sponsored events, Parent Night.
The study showed that the interviewee responses were aligned with current research on authentic partnerships in urban schools. It also showed that the structure of Spring Parent Night facilitated more of an authentic relationship building experience between school and home.
