Abstract
The study focused on ways to engage and motivate students in their own learning. Through research it became evident that this could be done through the implementation of an advisory. The researcher looked at a variety of schools and one after school program that created advisory periods for their students. All the evidence suggested that this was an integral part of those students becoming successful in high school. Through the research a model was set up for implementation at the high school level.
