About This Journal

Quill & Scope: The NYMC Student Medical Journal was founded in 2008 with the purpose of providing a space for students to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences relating to medical education and practice in an open format, open access journal. Over the last 15 years, we have published an incredible range of pieces, from original research articles to poetry, and breathtaking artwork to heartbreaking anecdotes.

Students from any New York Medical College school and any year are invited to contribute original pieces of work on any topic throughout the year; commentaries, reviews, research abstracts, poetry, photography, and artwork have appeared in the past.

The journal is published annually in the spring, after submissions are evaluated by an editorial board consisting of fellow NYMC students. While each issue has its own theme, topic choice is entirely the contributor's–all pieces will be reviewed!
