Abstract
Maddy is a child with a rare disease called Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC). Certain triggers like heat and stress cause her to become partially or totally paralyzed and experience painful neck spasms called dystonia. Her disease is so rare that little is known about it to this day. Further research would help improve the quality of life of Maddy and other children living with AHC.
